Re: Anyone starting precana?
Most people say that they just talk a lot about issues that some couples may face. Its supposed to prepare people on what they may expect. We have to go once a month for six months for ours but every church is different. Our Precana is different from everyone elses. We talk a lot about religion.

Re: Anyone starting precana?
We did precana in May-June. The first session was a meet and greet. The next four were in the facilitator couples' homes. The last one was a mass where they gave us a cross then held a brunch for us. The 4 sessions in the homes were about communication (dealing with problems), finance (organization and ethical dilemmas), intimacy (turned into the communication talk and some about children), and religion (values). For each topic they passed around a bunch of questions and everybody had to answer each one.We had 6 couples in our group. You find out a lot about everyone in the group. We didn't expect to enjoy it as much as we did. Often FH and I continued discussions after the meetings. Often you know things about your partner but it's good to put them to words.
The only thing about it was that each meeting lasted about 3-4 hours. A friend of my FH's had a similar expeience.

I'm doing my pre cana on Oct 19th. It's a one day deal. 9-5. I think I'm gonna go out of my mind. I'm so not looking foward to this.

I'm 1/2 way thru mine. We had a meet & greet on a Sunday with the married couple & the other engaged couple. Since it's just 2 couples it seems to go by quicker & they try to let us leave earlier. My FH & I are enjoying it.

FH just mentioned to me that Monday, 9/23, when we start precana, it's also our 1 year anniversary of our engagement! Time flies!

Re: Anyone starting precana?
We couldn't do the group precana at St. Kilians due to my fiance being in the military but we did it privately with a priest from his parish and have meet with Fr. Gentlemen numerous times. He used to be at the st. kilian's parish and is coming back for me and my fiance on friday to do our mass.I know the other couples I have spoken to when we meet with Paul the organist said they had a good time and many of the brides combined there church flowers.
I must say though, I am not sure who will do your mass, but I went to a wedding mass today and the priest called the bride by the wrong name. Her name is Gina-Marie.. and He just said Marie and he was hard to understand so if you get to know a certain priest or a deacon I would see what you could do to have him do your mass.
And well if you want to hear the organist or the soloist and see a nuptial mass, come by next friday at 1pm.. I'll be the one in white.. lol

Re: Anyone starting precana?
If your asking me it is Fr. Gentlemen.. My fiance and I have become friends with him, and all of us can't imagine it any other way.I have heard Dec. Barone is good, very lightharted. I am guessing it isn't your parish but you might want to check out some masses first and really make sure your priest knows you two well.
