Has anyone done the Japanese straightening system called istraight? If so where, and how much did it cost? Were you happy? How long does it last? Did you have to retouch it and how much was that ? What do you have to do to keep it straight after you take a shower?

Re: Anyone straighten hair Japanese style istraight
I have not had it done, but talked to people that have. It is very expensive, and depends on what kind of hair you have. If your hair is very curly from the roots, the minute your hair grows in a little it looks ridiculous because it poofs out at the roots. I was told I could do it because my hair is wavy, but not at the roots. It is very expensive to maintain, too.

Also, if you have coloured your hair, it may strip the colour depending on which kind of dye was used. My friend just had it done (wavy hair) and it was $400, and she has to go back in 6-8 weeks to get a touch-up ($225) and she still has to blow-dry her hair to get it straight - it just takes less time.

My sister gets it done at Salon Ishi in NYC (I think it's around $800). I think it looks awesome! She has really curly hair, but when the roots grow in, the weight of her hair kinda' pulls it down so it doesn't look poofy. Her hair is not totally straight unless she blows it out (with her fingers and it takes about 15 minutes where as it used to take 45+). So if she goes swimming and lets her hair air dry, she has very loose waves. It's definitely more manageable.
I'm considering doing it, but I want to wait until after the wedding. (I don't mind blowing my hair out for 45 minutes. )

I worked at a salon that did that and it costs around $500-$800, it comes out good, but if u want your hair very FLATand very straight its for u, my hair is straight but with body, I dont like that flat look. If u can straighten it yourself good, I wouldnt go threw with it! JMO. Good Luck

Re: Anyone straighten hair Japanese style istraight
i had my hair straightened with the japanese thermo conditioning twice now and my whole family had it done too. it is the best thing i have ever done!!!!! it looks amazing and i can actually get out of the shower and go and have my hair look amazing. my hair looks and feels healthier than it has ever felt. i also get my hair highlighted and it dosent really affect it - but i have to color it after the process, not before. it costed only $300 ( well worth it) and i got it done by the same stylist but he moved to different salons. try kim sun young in the city. they are amazing.

o- it lasts about 7 months before the roots grow in and it costs the same amount to get the roots done becuase the process is the same length- about 5 hours
