Anyone switch wireless carriers AND bring their number with them?

hopefully its easier now then when i tried (december). i switched from nextel to sprint and my number never ported. they said it would take 4-6 days and i waited over 2 months. i finally just lived with the new number...

I ported Vanessa's AT&T number over to my Sprint shared plan. It was a major pain in the ***... but we eventually got it done. At least we didn't have any loss of service.
The biggest problem was Sprint was confusing my account with hers... AT&T was porting using her SSN but Sprint kept confusing it trying to use my SSN.
I am sure porting now is much less of a hassle now that the 'rush' is over.

I switched from Sprint to Verizon in April and it was so easy... it took about a day and then it was all done.
I know that some carriers will give you a hard time porting a number over. Nextel gave a lot of my friends the run around and took about a week before they were completely switched over.
P.S. Sprint called me a week later to try to get me to come back. NO WAY... I have two words for Sprint... SYSTEM MAINTENANCE. Everytime I tried to anything, it was we can't do it now, we are performing system maintenance. blah blah blah.

i changed over from at&t to verizon with no problem. my husband was alreadya verizon customer so we decided to get a family plan....

I just changed from AT&T last week to T-moblie. I kept my old number and it took a few hours to switch. So far I like t-mobile, I have not had any connection problems like I had with at&t.

I changed from Sprint to Verizon in March, it was really easy, no problems switching my number. DH had his service with Verizon already and we got the family plan. No problems to report so far.

I just did it Saturday. So easy!!! It just entaile signing a new contract and buying a new phone.

We did it in May, it was no problem at all. We kept both phones on and when the new one started ringing, it had been switched. You do have to have your AT&T account number, though...not just the phone number. BTW, we switched to T-Mobile and we found it almost as bad, no quite, as AT&T. Next year we are switching to Verizon....everyone I know with Verizon has no dropped calls whatsoever.

Well I hate to disappoint you but I have Verizon and I get the occasional dropped call. No carrier is perfect in that regard.
It just so happens that right where I live is a huge dead area, very few carriers get digital service. Oh well, at least I am saving money.

FH switched me over to his shared plan about 3 weeks ago. No problems. I just changed my number last week though b/c i had a different area code then where I live and was getting stupid charges. No problems there either.
