We're also planning on a Mediterranean cruise. FIL's told us that we HAVE to at least have a balcony. Good thing they're paying

which cruise line are you going with?

fh and i ahve been to about 6 cruises in the past 3 yrs. we always take the cheapest room possible(this way we can cruise more often).... we made friends on 1 cruise and they had a balcony.. its NICEEE..but honestly...we're totally content in a stateroom. we have a 2mile long balcony on deck 7 for free and its true.. ur only in the room to shower n sleep.

I am taking acruise for my HM. We are getting a balcony, but thats only because I have a bit of claustraphobia and I dont that I will do well on a inside stateroom

I've been on a few cruises... we've always had a balcony room except for once.... IMO the extra money for the balcony room is so worth it!!! The staterooms are tiny and dark without one.... JMO

I highly suggest getting a balcony! FH and I went on a cruise last year and we both said we were so glad we upgraded because the rooms are pretty crammed - not that you're in it much anyway but it's still nice to have. It's so awesome sitting out there when you're in the middle of the ocean and nothing around you!

Hi Guys--its so weird that this was brought up today because I have a similar issue. We booked a suite for our honeymoon and I was thinking about downgrading to a balcony room. Its about a $1000 difference. anyone ever stayed in a suite? Is it worth it? We are totally not the type of people that would ever book a suite but i figured since its our honeymoon maybe we should splurge.

Balcony is a must have...its worth the xtra $$$$$
Dont upgrade for size like someone else said you wont be spending much time in your room.

The $ were saving from the upgrade is going towards a few nights @ Disney in addition to the cruise

We went on a Mediterranean cruise for our honeymoon and YES, make sure you at least get a room with a veranda/balcony. So many nights my DH and I sat outside and just listening to the waves and even watched the sunrise a couple of times. We even had breakfast delivered to our room and ate on the veranda/balcony almost every morning. To me its worth it.

We're taking a cruise, but we will be upgrading our room. Usually, I'd say it's not worth it, but the way we figure this is the one time in our life that we want to really go big so might as well book a balcony room. We won't be booking a suite or villa, but at least something with a balcony and oceanview.

We are cruising and have a balcony room...the last time I cruised we stayed in an interior room and I felt really disoriented waking up in the morning with no natural light whatsoever...I definitely recommend the balcony room!! Its nice to have your own private little space

I've been on 4 cruises and the last one I took we had a balcony room it is the way to go when you are on a cruise - It's so nice to sit out there at night or in the morning

I would. The base rooms are the size of a 2 by 4. And the bathroom is even smaller. I would upgrade to at least a mini suite or a room with a balcony.

we are goin on a 2 week cruise and we are definately upgrading!! normally we get the cheap rooms, cuz it doesnt really matter

but this is our HM and we want to feel comfortable

ive also had a room w balcony b4 and i think its awesome!! you can order room service for b'fast, put the robe over your jammies and enjoy the view (BEFORE GETTING DRESSED!)

Here's my take: If you have a few days strictly At Sea... then a balcony is totally worth it IMO... We had a balcony on our HM cruise for the first time ever, and it hardly got used bc we were at a port each day...

we're doing med and egypt cruise. we cruise a lot and we're actually only getting an inside cabin for our honeymoon. all the rooms are pretty much the same size except if you do a suite or above. the only difference is window or balcony etc. we are hardly in the room so its not a big deal if we dont have a balcony or anything. we just want the best price.

This is a great point...if you are going to be in a different port each day then it doesn't make sense to get the balcony...but if you are taking a cruise like we are (that has 5 days at sea) then its really worth it
