Anyone taking their HM a week or so after the wedding?

We are getting married on a Saturday night. I don't want to leave until Monday but if we want to stay at least a week I have to wait. I just realized a few things:

1. Mother's day is the following Sunday and I can't be away from my girls

2. Mother's day also happens to be the anniversary of my sister's passing this year

So would it be weird to take a day before the wedding and possibly the Monday after, go into work for a few days and then take off again for the HM?

TIA

I say do whatever you want!!!! I understand wanting to be home for those things...so do whatever makes you guys happy! you can take it the day after or months after.

Crashing...........I say it's fine. My wedding was on a Saturday and we didn't leave for our HM until the following Friday. I took off of work Thurs and Fri before the wedding and the Monday after. I went back in Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and then took off 2 weeks for the HM. My job was fine with it and was actually surprised I was coming back in for the three days.

Thanks ladies..I'm kind of glad we didn't book like I wanted to a few weeks ago.

So I guess work will be glad to see me for a few days..they can all try to figure out how to pronounce my new last name

Do whatever works best for you... theirs no rules.

We are not even taking our official HM until Jan 2012 because we are going to Europe for FH's cousin's wedding and I have to use most of my vacation days for that. I'm planning on taking off M-W after the wedding and then going back into work Th and Fr.

i am actually looking to wait a week so that i can actually take longer off of work because there is a holiday (memorial day) so we automatically get that day off. you can take the HM whenever you want to!

I think that's fine. I'm having problems trying to think of a good time to go on HM because ill still be in the middle of a semester at school so it will depend if I want to go right away, go during my spring break which will be my bday week or go in may when the semester is over.

I think it's fine, do what works for you. There are no rules that say you must go on a honymoon at a certain time. We're waiting a little while too, I feel like there's so much going on with us right now with work and housing our dog. We've never left him alone before. It's all relative, do what works for you.

go when it makes the most sense! some people take a short weekend trip; and then go on their honeymoon the following summer/year. There's no rule that you have to go right away. And just think; it will give you somethig else to look forward to knowing your HM is still a few months away. Instead of everything all happening (and ending) at once. It sort of stretches out the excitment!

We are waiting a couple of weeks to do our honeymoon. You have to do whats best for you and your schedule!

we're probably going during january break, since FH is going to be starting grad school that fall. (oh yea, midterms probably fall the week after our wedding, waahhh) i'm actually excited about it, because i'll be able to take a few days before and a full week after our wedding THEN take the 2 weeks off, since it will be in a new year!

its not weird at all. plan your HM whichever way you want!
we are getting married on Sunday, the 12th. our cruise doesn't leave until Monday the 19th. we are not sure yet if we will fly to Europe on the Mon or Tuesday night after our wedding and go early and sightsee on our own before the cruise leaves or take the monday after the wedding off, go to work for the rest of the week and leave to Europe over the weekend.
do what works for you!

I think that should be fine. I didn't even realize that we were going to be on our HM during Mother's day until after we booked. I felt awful at first, but then I thought about it and realized that I could still see my son through the computer on Mother's day and he gets to spend the day with Grandma.

A week isnt a big deal at all!! You're going to be so excited and I'm sure the excitement will last till well after the honeymoon
