Anyone that had their kitchen done by Home Depot

I was just wondering if you had your kitchen installed by them. Did they do a good job? Could you give me a rough estimate of how much you paid? They are telling me that it is an average of 8k-15k just for the installation. My kitchen is only costing 5k.

We bought our kitchen from HD (Kraftmaid cabinets for $12K, didn't price out the granite yet...)

They gave us estimates of $8-10K to install our kitchen (but we're doing it ourselves)

Thanks, it looks like we are going to have to do it ourselves. I can't justify spending 5k on a kitchen and then paying twice that to have it installed.

Hanging cabinets is easy. Its the molding that Al's not going to have fun with. The granite we'll have installed.

Careful with home depot sub-contractos, I have heard many horror stories. My husband alwasy says that the sub-contractors from Home Depot don't have the talent to work in a reputable store-front type of place. He is in the home improvement business and sees alot of the 'has-beens' applying for jobs there.

Heidi, I used to work for a company that did sub-contracting from Home Depot in Connecticut. I have NOTHING nice to say about that company (the sub-contractor), especially in the Customer Service Dept. In fact, I quit because they were terrible at service and put it all on me. Well there were other reasons too. I'd just be careful of the company they give your bid to.

Thanks for the warnings!! I am already disappointed with Home Depot's designer. We actually had to get a new one. I guess we will have to go elsewhere for the contractor or do it ourselves(DH hates this idea).
