Re: anyone thinking of belize for their hm?
One of my girlfriends went to Belize and Guatemala for their honeymoon and had an amazing time. They did a lot of hiking and outdoorsy stuff, but also went to fine restaurants and just laid around on the beach. Here's what she said about her trip:
We went to Blancaneaux which is a jungle resort. Very cool and I would recommend it if they want to do something different than just the beach. On the beach we stayed at a place called Turtle Inn in Placencia. it was super relaxing and we did not do much. We snorkeled but we did have to take a boat there. I have heard that Ambergris Caye is great and the snorkeling is right there no boat. The other hotel our travel agent recommended on Ambergis Caye was called Victoria House ( I think)

Hey! I'm not but I saw Blancaneaux Lodge in Belize was on Jetsetter (a division of Gilt Groupe) today and thought of you. Here's Jetsetters description:
I feel like I’m on a far-flung movie set at Francis Ford Coppola’s Blancaneaux Lodge, not least because the bar is decorated with fans from the set of Apocalypse Now. Located in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, one of Belize’s oldest national parks, the resort practices a light touch, with simple stone paths winding between the hillside villas.
Guests hide away in one of the 21 thatched-roof villas and cabanas built into a hillside above the swift-moving Privassion Creek and waterfall. Natural grass, pine trees and palms surround the buildings for a touch of privacy. Inside, guest spaces are decorated with authentic Guatemalan fabrics chosen by Coppola’s wife, Eleanor, as well as soft Persian rugs that cover the tropical hardwood floor.
Awesome!
Anyway, on Jetsetter the sale is only valid for stays until June 2010 and I see your getting married 12/2010. The prices on Jetsetter for a riverfront cabana was $225/nt and according to them the hotel's price is $340/nt. You have time, you can find a good deal!! =)

Re: anyone thinking of belize for their hm?
I went there on a cruise last year. It was BEAUTIFUL! we went to the rain forest and climbed the myan ruins it was really a beautiful country.
It is very city like though (atleast where our ship came it is was). And honestly just outside the port there were LOTS and LOTS of drug dealers.

Yes...but coming from the dead of winter in NY to 70 will feel really really nice!
Travel Zoo has a whole bunch of deals to Belize as well!
