Anyone use a band AND a dj??

FH and I are considering having a Latin band and a DJ (our families are Latin/African American). Obviously, the Latin band will only be playing Latin music, so we were considering having a DJ to pick up where they left off.

Anyone ever do this? Would you recommend it?

P.S.: The band we are considering is a 10 piece Latin band whose price is PHENOMENAL (cheaper than a lot of popular DJ services I've seen posted about). So that is the only reason why both would fit into our budget. So it's more a question of practicality.

Dear Lord for what our band is costing us we are lucky to be serving anything more than chicken fingers and frech fry baskets at the reception!!

You might want to consider a DJ that offers percussionists. My friend who is Venezuelan had this and it was sensational!!!! It really add's something extra to the music.

we are using a band and a dj... Band is going to do our cocktail hour...and some small stuff in between ~ I was thinking of maybe he could sing our first dance song....
