Anyone use video conferencing to chat with family?

Anyone use video conferencing to chat with family?

Dad lives in Florida and now that he has a grandson, it would be nice to chat via the internet with a video conferencing service. I have a logitech webcam and so does he, but we can't get the sound to work, so it is just a choppy image we see. Does anyone chat with family this way? Can you recommend any other products/services so we can talk and see eachother and so he can see his grandson? Thanks.

My sisters and I all have a Veo webcam that we use to talk to our parents in FL. We use eyeball chat service to chat and it works well. It may be choppy if you have dial-up modems. We don't really use it anymore, but it was a fascination for like the first two weeks we got it.

we use the Apple iSight to chat with family in chicago. The quality is amazing.
