Anyone Used/Using a Wedding Planner

Anyone Used/Using a Wedding Planner

I am considering hiring a wedding planner to help me during the course of planning the wedding. I feel like I have so much to do and not enough time to do it. I am also not a DIY'er and feel like maybe a planner could help me figure out ways to create my ideal wedding and keep costs to a minimum. Has anyone used or is using a wedding planner? How helpful have you found this to be or is it just a waste of money?

My friend used one recently and she was fantastic. She really alleviated alot of the stress on the day of and helped my friend keep coordinated. You will have no worries on your day of if you have one. If its a necessity? I think its a personal preference. But her coordinator was prepared for everything! She even had a HUGE emergency kit with everything from advil to mini sewing kits. Another friend hired a girl for just the day to help coordinate and keep everything running smoothly.

My friend used Christine A. Wheat Special Event Planners. Shes based out of Albany but has great coordinators in Long Island : http://www.cweventsfirm.com/

Francesca from Dazzling Affairs has been nothing but great! She's going to be my DOC as well.

a friend of mine is a wedding planner/DOC so she is going to act as mine the day of. I have to say she's been a HUGE help thus far in helping me get organized and think of ideas and I know the day of you she is going to make sure everything runs smoothly for us and that everything is set up the way we want it. She has also saved me from a panic attack or two on random little things I got worried about.

You are so lucky to have a friend as a wedding planner! My friends seem so un-interested that I feel like I have to hire someone in place of them!

Thanks ladies! I will check these people out. My mom is so against me using a planner that I know this is going to be an argument.

well if you have the extra money in your budget to hire someone it's worth it for your peace of mind throughout the planning process and the day of.

Also, you don't have to get someone for the full planning process. You can just hire a DOC so you don't have to worry about anything the day of. That's what my friend originally offered to do for me but she is constantly calling me up and sending emails with ideas and basically helping me plan she suckered herself into being my wedding planner LOL

I am using Nina from Markz & Co. She is great!! And VERY reasonable... She is a vendor on here and gives great advice. So happy with my decision... Hope this helps!!

This is a tough call- I hired someone as a DOC plus some help with planning, and while I've gotten a few good ideas, when it comes to certain things, I feel like I've found better deals on my own than if I would have gone with her recommendations. Wedding planners are supposed to save you money and I cant say mine has saved me anything, although based on all the rave reviews girls with DOCs have, I am reserving judgement until the wedding is over, but right now I am wondering if I should have just put that money towards something else. Even though they do alot for you, you still have to manage them and make all the final decisions. If you do choose to do it, I think this is an area in which it is very important that your personalities click! Good Luck.
