Anyone using their Frequent Flyer miles for HM?

If so how far in advanced did you book your flights?

We just booked our HM yesterday. We actually paid for coach class tickets then used our mileage to upgrade to First Class. Unfortunately, we had two issues:

1 - Continental now charges a fee to use your miles to upgrade on international flights.

2 - our Newark to London leg they claimed were no first class seats available, so we are flying coach class there and first class back from Paris. We are going to play the honeymoon card when we check in and hope they will updgrade us anyway.

Our wedding is 8 weeks away (two months from tomorrow!!!), and like I said, we just booked yesterday.

We booked about a month ago and did the same thing paying for coach tickets and then upgrading. We had the same problem that there were no first class tickets on one leg of our trip, but we had to use the miles anyway to upgrade on the second leg of the trip, so hopefully they will upgrade us when we check in.

We are!!!!!! booked both are flights to Aruba on Delta. We booked about a month ago, for June of 06.

I am 100% we have so many Membership rewards from American express. We can even fly first class I guess it is worth spening a lot of money

We are not using our miles. WE ARE USING MOM's MILES. She has almost 300,000 and said we could have the miles we need for each of us to fly to Hawaii. As long as we contribute as much as we can to the wedding which is fine by me. She racked up those miles in hopes of traveling for a trip for my parents 50th anniversary but sine Dad has passed, she figured the next best thing would be to celebrate MY marriage. I love her so much for that. Dad would have agreed!

We are using my mother's miles HOWEVER when we called this weekend there were NO MORE non stop coach miles to Rome (where we are taking our cruise from) SO, we have to have a lay over but its not big deal...I mean if we were paying for them i wouldnt want the lay over BUT since we are paying near to nothing for 2 tickets to rome we WILL do the lay over and LOVE it
he said we can call back periodically and see if they open up new tickets for a non stop flight and we will have to pay 100 each ticket which would be worth it, so we will keep on checking

I would book soon when we asked when the heck did these tickets go on sale they said 361 days before departure date so we were a few weeks off- SO I WOULD BOOK THEM ASAP!!!!!!!!!!
