i want to buy votive and use them as escort cards. i thought it would be pretty to see everyone walk into the dimly lit room with just uplighting. everyone walking in with candles and lighting the room i thought would be pretty. i want candles on the table and thought this would be a cute way to do it. what do you think?

Re: anyone using votives as escort cards?
I think it would be beautiful but the votives get pretty hot when the candles been lit for awhile and it might be too hot for guests to carry to their place setting. What about just having them sitting at the place at the table already?

call your RH and ask first. I planned on doing this and JT said I couldn't after I bought about 150 votives. He said it is a fire hazard. People walking around with lit candles. He said the biggest concern is someone hair could catch fire

We can have votives though just on the tables, right?

I saw this a bridal showcase I went to at my RH. And I think I'm gonna do it too, get the flameless tea light candles and a frosted candle holder. They had this on display at my RH and it looked gorgeous, the light was warm and flickering, it looked really pretty.
I'm trying to find a good picture to post, as soon as I do I will add it.

yupp!! Sorry just saw your post.votives are fine they just cant be carried around
sounds great but could be dangerous IMO esp after the cocktail hour get what I'm saying. Have you seen the vellum paper that can be used as table numbers around the votive candles? I saw these on etsy - might be a way to get the same effect your going for as people walk in...

I thought about it. I thought about doing a velum wrapped number with the names and either having a banquet staff member check the guest in or having a master list on a board and give them their table number and when they go to their seat the candle is waiting. I decided against it though.
