Aw. I wish. But DH is allergic to cats.

Why do they need to give them away? SIL and BIL have 4 cats that were resuced by SIL when she was single and they do fine with our niece, in fact, I think that is why she wasn't even fazed by our puppy when she met her last weekend.

SHe wants to get rid of them because it is a one bedroom apt, and once the baby comes they are going to need more space..and she doesn't want to have to clean after them...

I agree, her DH should have thought of that before he brought them home. I am sorry but I hate when people take in animals that they cannot take care of and then are so quick to want to give them away...that is wrong IMHO

But she will clean up after a baby?? Tell your friend it is a lot more work to clean up after a baby, then a couple of sweet cats that will get stressed out from all the changes.

ok ladies so uncalled for...maybe i did not paint a better picture.....which may have left an open door for such replies...

they both feel really bad that they need to find homes for them...the reality is their cats shed like crazy and two out of the three are very frisky and very unpredictable...so in their defense, they want to find caring homes for them, since they are in a tight space and the reality is, they want the best enviornment for their family given the space they are living in.

so try to withhold from your judgements.....

People really need to be honest with themselves when they choose to adopt. I think people forget that pets, especially dogs and cats, have feelings and these are tramatic events in their lives.

Newsday has an article about this very thing in Part II today. Article

I hope the cats find loving homes that are willing to commit to them for the rest of their lives.

ok, like that was necessary......IMHO, which I am allowed to have, they should not be so quick to give up the cats, that is wrong

I am entitled to my opinion, like it or not.

steph you absolutely are, but sometimes you need to step back and see how it is perceived....it's just a bit too aggressive and too much....

I am sorry if you feel that way...I hope you find a good, loving home for the kitties.......

IMHO i could see why its better to give the cats up for adoption. A new baby is ALOT of work, and in a smaller apartment 3 cats would certain add to the crowding and messes. It would be better to the cats if there could be a home where there can be more attention focused on them, i dont see anything wrong with giving them up for that reason, its not like oh I dont want them anymore while living in a large place with no kids. GOOD LUCK

I totally agree with this. It doesn't sound to me like this is a heartless couple. I mean, the DH at one point saw them in distress and rescued them. I hope they find a good home. I love cats too and wish I could take them. But we can't have them where we live either.
