Anyone weirded out about events on 9-11?

I have an idea of when my shower is and I am pretty sure it's on 9-11. Should I be weirded out by that at all? I told one of my friends and her face told it all. I don't want to associate my shower with that date, do you think others will?

My MOH wanted to plan my shower for 9.11.
but schedules caused a change. You will be fine if it's ok with you. It may help others find a reason to celebrate the day again!

No Not At All!! I got married on 9/10/04 and it was the best day and I would of done it on 9/11 but it was already taken!! We have to get through it and celebrate that day yes it was very sad and we did lose allot of people and I also lost allot of friends and family that day but I know they would of wanted it to be on that day! So don't think it is weird!!

Maybe someone can say a few words or just have a moment of silence for those lost. It may sound like a buzzkill to do something like that at your shower, but I thinks it's always nice to acknowledge such a day, especially us New Yorkers.

My father is a 9/11 survivor. He worked in Tower 2 on the 96th floor. He lost about 87 people from his department and I knew many of them because he has worked there my whole life. If I had a shower to go to on 9/11, I would not mind. Unless one of your guests is a survivor, I don't think it should be a problem.

Don't worry it will be fine.
If someone is opposed they can choose not to come and just send a gift

I have a wedding to go to on that Day and I think it will be ok.

For us, it wouldnt be a good idea b/c Anthonys a NYC firefighter and lost a lot of friends, but I think its different for everyone. Its a very sad day for me. I would rather it not be on that day.

I found and bought my dress on 9-11 I thought of it as a new begining. Look at it like something beautiful instead of sad.

Don't worry about it. Plenty of people ahve birthdays, weddings , anniversaries etc on September 11. it's really no big deal Just a day. I consider it good that someone's making something positive happen on that date

I think if your shower is on 9/11, then having a moment of silence for the departed is a lovely idea. If you do not want your shower on that day then perhaps you might want to mention it to someone in your bridal party.
