Ok, so I'm going to Queens College for my masters right now. I just checked my grades for my first semester and I got an A (the other class was P/F). So according to my transcript I have a 4.0 BUT some lady in my class said that Queens has A+, A, A-, etc. Now, if there's an A+, how do I have a 4.0 with an A? Is an A+ above a 4.0?? Or is there no A+ at all? Or maybe not in grad school but there is in undergrad (which is what she went to Queens for before this degree)?
Help! I can't figure this out!!

I did my undergrad at Queens & just finished my grad at Hunter. Although teachers can give you A+, I BELIEVE the points work out to be the same (don't quote me on that). What if you had all A+'s? 4.0 is obviously the highest you can receive.

I had this undergrad at Cornell and an A+ was a 4.2, so you could actually have a GPA above a 4.0. I know the person who graduated #1 did...

That's so weird, I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind it. So now I have to work harder to get above a 4.0? I don't think even anal perfectionist me can push myself that hard

I hear that. My grad school didn't give A+, but it was hard enough undergrad, especially when they curved DOWN to make the median in every class a C! The person with a final GPA over 4.0 must have been a maniac.
