anyone who got married at the Watermill???

so im getting married there, and i was looking over the menu today w/my parents...we were all excited about the 'Certified Angus Rib Eye' but then my dad pointed out that the description says 'select prime ribs'

soooooooooooooo i called watermill and spoke to a different BM, not mine cuz he wasn't in, who proceeded to tell me that Rib Eye steaks and Prime Rib are the same thing....BUT THEY'RE NOT!!!!!!!!!!! when FH ordered a rib eye steak at a restaurant last night it was NOT the same thing as the prime rib we ate Easter Sunday...so i was aggravated and jus hung up cuz the guy wasn't understanding me that they are different....

OK so my question...for any of you watermill brides that had Certified Angus Rib Eye on your menu......WHAT WAS SERVED???? a rib eye steak? or prime rib?

we were really excited about rib eye steaks, but if its prime rib, whatever, im just not writing 'Rib Eye' on my menu if my guests are going to be served prime rib

my best friend got married there last summer and they offered filet mignon which actually turned out to be prime rib...my fiance was not happy about that...very misleading. make sure they give you what you ask for!

hey Bruce is my BM, and he is WONDERFUL and hes not in until tomorrow at 5pm...so thats when ill be calling...and hopefully, like everything else, he will be very helpful, understanding, and polite!

i didnt speak with him though, but i dont want to say names cuz i dont want to offend anyone who has this particular BM but i wasn't happy with how this BM spoke with me...i felt like my intelligence was insulted as if i don't know that a Rib Eye Steak is different than Prime Rib roast!!!

We are harvinge our reception at the watermill too. You are 100% correct their is a difference. I had order Filet Mignon at another reception hall and i got prime rib, it was ok but it does throw you off when you are expectingo ne thing and get another. Im curious what you find our from Bruce, we meet with Bruce to leave our deposit but our bm is Brian. FM if you get any information.

Prime rib and ribeye are the same CUT the difference is in the preparation. I worked at a steakhouse. A prime rib is whole roasted off the bone and then sliced and served. A ribeye is cut on or off the bone and then grilled or broiled. But they are the same cut of meat.

ETA: Anyone trying to pass prime rib off as a filet mignon should be shot!

Re: anyone who got married at the Watermill???

same thing happened at my sisters wedding....they told her that the meat was filet mignon but my other sisters husband who is a chef said that what we got was actually prime rib cut into medallions...i wold advise you to get right on this and call as soon as you can to straighten this out. Tell them that you have a family member who is a chef and they will be coming with you to your tasting and they will be able to advise you on the meat and the cut. The watermill charges good money per plate so I would make sure you are getting exactly what you want.
