have you switched faiths or are you considering it? do you worry what your family would say? my DH and i have spoken about it....there are many reasons but the main one being more about believing in sprituality and sense of community vs regulations and donations it makes me sad but i think about it a lot. since i have moved into our house , there is a methodist church on our corner and a presbyterian church a block away...and they are always having bake sales, craft fairs, community activities. It always seems more involved. Does any other faith baptise children?

Re: Anyone who was raised Catholic....
I changed faiths... My DH is a born-again christian.. and I know those who just read that that don't know much though 'o-gosh-a-holy-roller'... but he's not that bad or one of those stigma guys....
Our church that we belonged to in NY was great... they dedicate children(instead of water baptism) because water baptising is a symbol of the washing away of sins. A child is pure in the eyes of God, according to the Christian Belief, even most catholics. If a child is pure, what sins would he/she carry??.... That really affected my decision to baptise vs. dedicate..... Without sounding like a preacher, (because my beliefs are VERY different from my husbands yet), your best bet is to research the different religions and to ask questions at their churches or see if they have any type of classes or orientations for new memebers... you may even get lucky and find a website for some churches.... Good Luck on your search!

Re: Anyone who was raised Catholic....
Both DH & I were raised catholic. Years ago, actually when I was a teen I went to a born again christian church but then stopped before I was 20. I have been a member of a methodist church now for about 15 years and love it. There is a HUGE sense of community & family. They have been there & helped me get through alot of rough times.
