I had my first fitting with my Maggie Gown and thought I loved the dress until I saw the pics. I did not take the big poofy mega hoop underneath because my mom said I am not 'scarlet ohara'? Does anyone have their trial pic with a maggie gown. I got the Davina Marie and now am wondering if I made a mistake??? Does anyone else have this gown? What type of slip skirt did you get?

Re: Anyone with a Maggie Gown?
I got the Maggie gown called 'Miami'. It doesn't really need a slip so I didn't get one. I saw your gown on the Maggie website. It looks like it's a ballgown style gown. Did you ask the seamstress about it? Maybe the gown needs the hoop slip to look right. Can you post the pics? Maybe the ladies here can put your mind at ease...

I have to scan them first. I hope I can catch the seamstress before she starts hemming, she wasn't really too helpful!!! ugghh

Re: Anyone with a Maggie Gown?
Check out the pics of my dress. I had a very full petticoat under my dress that when I had it on I thought the skirt was too full looking, but now that I see it in the pics I really like it and I think it makes a big difference in the way the dress looks. Maybe you need the fullness for your dress since it's a ballgown style.

Re: Anyone with a Maggie Gown?
I aldo got the Davina Marie and I ordered a mega slip. The lady who sold me the dress suggested it looked better with a very full slip. I will probably go for my first fitting in 2 weeks. I'll let you know how it looks.

Re: Anyone with a Maggie Gown?
Update on the Maggie slip problem:
I went back to the dress shop tonight and got fitted with a mega hoop slip. I am only 5'2 and the mega slip made the dress look soooooo wide it was kind of funny. And it was very heavy and pulling down on the gown which is not so light itself. BUT, I loved how it pushed out the front of the dress so that the pannel of crystals was showing. Soooo the seamstress cut off the top layer of crinolin since I looked like one of those dolls with the HUGE crinoline. With the one layer off it looked really nice. Also she recommended that I also wear a straight, silk slip underneath so that the crinoline does not slide between my legs. I feel much better, thanks for helping me out. If the mega slip is too wide then maybe you can cut out the top layer!!

Re: Anyone with a Maggie Gown?
I do not have a Maggie Gown, but I just purchased my slip for my tulle bottom gown.
When I tried on my dress I was being encouraged to get a very full slip, but it made the dress too ful and it was not my style. Instead I purchased a mediun full slip with crinoline which gave the dress a slight pouf. I was fine with that.
Maybe you should look into getting something along those lines.

I have a maggie gown. I was encouraged to buy the full slip. When I tried it on, it made the dress look full.

Re: Anyone with a Maggie Gown?
I was also encouraged to buy a very fill slip and I did not like the look. My dress has an a-line cut and I did not want the puffy look. I am getting an a-line slip when I go back for my second fitting.

StayandJohn, don't you love the Miami gown? I don't think the pictures in the bridal mags does it justice.
