did you forego a lot of the the more 'traditional' wedding things? Bouquet toss, garter belt, introductions, etc.
With so few guests I don't feel the need to be so traditional (I would even prefer not to have an actual dance floor). But I am not sure how the night would play out.. if it would end up being too unstructured.

Re: Anyone with a small wedding....
I had about 125 people and we did intros and toasts, etc. but we did not do bouquet and garter tosses. There would have only been like 5 people on the floor for them The day flowed very smoothly without those. Kind of wish I had been able to do them just for traditions' sake but it wasn't weird at all without them.

Re: Anyone with a small wedding....
I am having a small wedding, 90-100 people, and we are having some of the traditional things like introductions but we are not doing a garter or bk toss. We dont have many single friends so it would be pointless. I think you can have whatever you want at your wedding no matter the size.

I don't think we are doing the tosses either. I did go to a wedding where they did the bo-k toss right after the church on the steps it was cute for pictures.

Re: Anyone with a small wedding....
I didn't do the toss or garter because we were the last of our single friends for the most part lol. If I had wanted to then it has nothing to do with the amount of guests...it's your wedding, do what you want to do But if you don't, it works out great also and no one will miss them. You can do the anniversary dance instead

Re: Anyone with a small wedding....
we're having about 90 people and we're not going to do it... not necessarily because it's a small wedding, it's really just because our guests coming to the wedding wouldn't likely participate!!

I had 40 and we had a first dance and that was about it. We did do toasts and we both made speeches. I wish we had a real cake tho.

Re: Anyone with a small wedding....
were having a 100 and not doing the tosses just b/c I dont like it. the other stuff we are doing: being introduced, the aisle walk with parents. it all depends on if u want to do it, and what kind of feel of the wedding ur planning on having. dont limit urself just b/c ur having less ppl. I do agree with less ppl and a day/early evening wedding, like ours, we can do some things a little bit more lax and a bit less formal (just a little bit)

Re: Anyone with a small wedding....
I had 90 people. And I didn't do the boquet/garter toss. Most of my guests were married already and i didn't want to single out my very few single friends. But we did have our first dance, introductions, and a short toast by my bf. Other than that we had a very non-traditional wedding.

Re: Anyone with a small wedding....
I'm having 60-70 people, and I am not doing a garter/bouquet toss. I think if I had a bigger wedding, I still would have left the toss out of my wedding (just not my thing!). I am doing the toasts and first dance though. It is your wedding--follow Burger King's advice and 'have it your way' .

Re: Anyone with a small wedding....
We are going to be hovering around 100 guests and we did forgo a lot of traditional things...I think I would have done the same even if I had a large wedding...we are not having limos, garter toss, bk toss, receiving line, we are getting married at RH and our ceremony is 10 minutes, no children....
the only thing we did keep traditional is father daughter dance, mother son dance, cake cutting, and that is it pretty much. I dont think it will be unstructured...I envision the night going smoother than a traditional wedding because you won't have so many breaks to do each thing... it will just be more continuous.

We're forgoing most of the traditions, not because we're having a smaller wedding, but because it's really not our thing.

Re: Anyone with a small wedding....
I did most of the traditional things even with a small wedding but if you forgo the dance floor just be warned that if your reception last for 4 hours, you will have to find activities/entertainment for your guests. Everyone loves to dance at a wedding! As long as you have a solid floor, do lighting with your monograms, etc. to create a pretty backdrop on your floor. That works also if you don't want to spend money on a dance floor. Def do bouquet toss and garter toss, it's highly recommended. The guys and gals will have so much fun! And plenty of laughs! You can do something simple, a bunch of daises/violets/roses//lilies (your preference of flower) for the bouquet and garters are inexpensive. They sell them in a pack at discount stores. You can forgo the favors and make something that can be both the place tags/favor in one. I've purchased place tags shaped like a chair that double as a folding box on the seating which is also used as favors but ended up not using them. There are relatively easy and simple things to do to cut down the cost for a small wedding. For the cake, you can do a cupcake tower and have a layer on top to cut. More and more ppl are doing that trend now. For a laid-back wedding, Instead of round tables, replace with long rectangular tables(like benches), those accommodate seating for up to approx. 18-20 each side. This way it saves space and money. For catering, instead of a buffet, do a sit down course. This cuts down cost. Buffets require refills for the stationary course. Sit down only consist of 3-4 entrees. If you need help with more ideas, feel free to FM me. Best wishes!!
