Anyone with cats and dogs......

We have a cat, who is very spoiled and LOVES attention
Hubby and I are thinking about getting a puppy. Anyone had a cat and then got a puppy have any advice on how to get them acquainted??
I know Blackie will get very jealous, and am very worried of how he will feel more so then getting the puppy used to the house.
How long till they would get along.

I don't think it can be any different than having a cat for a while and then getting another cat. This was my brothers situation. At first he was of course VERY jealous, but the cat's absolutely adore each other now!! (I think girls tend to be more jealous) And it's great for them to have a friend I think a dog would have the same effect. I always grew up with one cat and wondered what it would be like for her to have a sibling, but she was always territirious (sp), but then again my parents didn't want two anyway, but she was happy I think your Blackie will be just fine! Just make sure you give them equal attention

How old is the cat?

The older the cat, the more difficult the transition will be to accept another 'sibling'.
