OK.... I asked today, because I couldnt find it.. here goes...

You need potatos, flour, pot cheese (or I think curdled cottage cheese.. you can ask in specialty store) Bacon and cabbage if desired.

Coarsly grated potato mixed with flour till thicker consistency is formed. You really want to make it like doughy, but coarser... If that makes sense... Break pieces and place into boiling water. when pieces rise to top they are finished. Take out and mix with cheese. Can make Bacon and cheese (awesome) by breaking pieces of bacon and mixing, as well as cabbage and cheese... also great!

Has anyone gone to the Byzantine festival??? Its this weekend in Smithtown.... through Monday, 11-11pm... and they have hollushki... not as good as my grandmas... but good enough for 1.50!!!!
Brian and I are probably going tomorrow after church!!! MMMmmmmmmmm CANT WAIT!!!!!

Although...I think I am gonna make it very soon.. all this talk about it has made me in the mood for it BIG time!!!! LOL.... I also have a recipe for Nut roll... I know that was something else my grandfather used to make all the time as well.. Let me know if youd like it! Good Luck!

Re: anyone with czechoslovakian recipes

Sorry to hear that Michelle! Went to the Byzantine Festival today!!! Had a blast.. ate GOOD food!!!!... My familys recipe for Holushki is better than they made it (JMO.. theirs was really bland, and they only made it w/ cabbage- no cheese *yuk*) It was do-able until I find time to make my own!!! I definately recommend going though.... I love their food!
