lol... a friend of ours gets home from work at 2...and he says he has trouble getting to sleep before 4...

I just got my first job as a brand new RN, and I will be working 7pm-730am soon. I am on orientation now, so my hours are during the day. Before this job I was working as an LPN (in fact I worked there tonight) I worked 3-11. When I get home at 12am, I am so wired! FH worked nights for a few months, but that didnt last too long.. He is not a night person at all!
Thank you! I am excited about starting the actual clinical aspect, but I am also nervous, as its my first 'real' job. Its weird to think that Im not going back to school in the fall since Ive been in school so long.

congrats!!! You will get used to the hours. My cousin is an RN at Stony Brook and has the same hours!!!

i don't but fh does so i spend alot of time waiting up for him and then we both are too wired to sleep.....he never is able to fall aslpee before 3 or 4 since he gets off at 11:30 (as he says - when you get off at 5 do you go home and go right to sleep??!)

one Sunday a month I have to work from 12-9. This month it is next sunday

When I bartended my hours were Friday 5pm-7am (with no breaks!) and Saturday 8pm-6am. The money was really good, but I don't miss getting to bed at 8am and my whole weekend being completely shot!

I'm also an RN, I work 3 to 11. I usually can't sleep untill 1 or 1:30. I love these hours though!

Dialysis! That is a tough area. Those access devices scare me! And I keep thinking about that disorder dialysis patients get where the protamine detaches from the heparin, and the bleed profusely through everywhere! Good luck with that Dani! Wendy, what are do you work in?
