At 1st I wasn't worried about going to Mexico for the honeymoon w/all the violence and killing going on, but the news and ppl around FH and I from work and families are starting to worry us, I am actually afraid to take our wedding bands, in fear of getting robbed when we leave the airport. Is anyone else worried?

We booked w/insurance, and FH wants to find out if we can change our package for another location, since we did it through bookit.com

We booked and we are still going !!!!!! We are staying at the resort and not going anywhere else... they say a lot is happening by the border....

We are going to Puerto Vallarta for a week. I think that we will be staying just in the resort the whole time and it should be fine. I'm not taking my ering or wedding band either way no matter where we go (wearing one of my other 2 bands...long story but i will have a total of 3 wedding bands once we get married )

I have been doing a lot of reading on this- this has been going on for a while BUT it is a little bit out of control now. I hear that if you stick to the resorts and stuff, you will be fine. However, there is another article on this today on MSN.com.

Most of the problems are in Mexico itself (not so much in Baja). We are also going to Cabo and have no intention of changing it! Just be cautious - as you should be anywhere you travel.

We just went to our travel agent this weekend to talk about a honeymoon and he recommended a place in mexico, and when I asked him if it was safe he said yes, just that you have to stay in the resort. I would assume that this is true, but I would check with your individual travel agents. I hope this helps!

We are still going to Mexico for our honeymoon in 12 weeks...The problems going on are more centralized in the Tijuana/border areas, Mexico City, and city of Juarez. It's very scary, but I personally am not concerned about going 5 hours away from all of this to a resort. I also am half Argentinian and speak Spanish fluently, which has gotten me out of many creepy situations in various foreign countries, so I'm chillin. I wouldn't worry unless you're planning some kind of guerilla-honeymoon through the mountains and rural areas

I just got an update from my TA she just heard from Apple tours and they sent out a mass lettter letting everyone know that this has NOT affected the resorts in any way that it is still safe to travel but as always be cautious.

I am most worried about leaving the airport and getting on the shuttl to the resort. I am just afraid of men w/guns getting on the shuttle on it's way to all the resorts. I am from guatemala, which is really close to Mexico, so I know it can happen. I wasn't worried, but now everyone around me is making us scared, we might leave our rings at home. you should be fine venturing out in puerto vallarta.

Hi girls! I just got back from Mexico on Saturday. We were in the Riviera Maya for the past week and we did not experience any problems while there. We did go on tours and visit the town of Playa del Carmen. I did not take my wedding or engagement ring but I did see a lot of women who did have theirs.
