It seems as though everyone is stressing that they will be waaay over their guarantee. On the other hand anyone worried about not making their guarantee? This is going to sound funny but FH and I guaranteed 100. Our original guest list had 150 which wouldnt make the 100 guarantee too difficult.
But since we booked our hall (May of '04) we have re-thought the situation and now only have 125 on the guest list. Majority being close family. Should we be worried?

Re: Anyone worried about (POLL)
Well on average and of course it is an average 20% don't come so that would be about 24 people...you might just make it...you may want to add if you have people that you are on the fence about just to make it 130-135.
Yo don't want to add people after the invites go out b/c you can't make your minimum

Good point, FH and I will have to sit down just one more time and re think the situation.

We're sort of in the same situation. Our room holds a minimum of 50 guests max 85. At first we also thought we were way in over our head. But from talking w/people, we're seeing that only 60 people, if even that, will be attending. At first I was stressing, but then realized that I would be ok w/that. It will just make it more intimate and that's exactly what we want. You could always have your parents or a sibling invite a friend or two just to fill up.
Good Luck

We are also having a smaller wedding and guaranteeing 100. We send out 130 odd invites. We've reached about half our minimum with the responses we've gotten back so far (hardly anyone declined). Now, I only sent my invites out about 2 weeks ago, but I was hoping to have the vast majority of responses back by April 14th...that way if there were several no's......I could send to the B list. Our final RSVP date is May 14th. Doesn't look like that's going to happen because apparently it's too much work to check a line and drop a pre-addressed, pre-stamped envelope in the mail! I know I probably sound incredibly impatient, but I always return these kind of things very quickly myself, so I guess I expect the same of others.
