Anyone writing their own vows

Anyone writing their own vows

Trying to put the ceremony together - and I like the idea of writing vows. Do you have to write the vows and the ring exchange piece also? Anybody have any suggestions. I kind of don't know were to begin.

I am having one of my BM translate the Gaelic 'Irish Wedding Blessing' she did this at her weding & it was beautiful.... I wanted something with an old sentiment, but not too overdone.

it's really very nice..... none of that 'to honor & obey' type stuff..... it is spiritual, and focused on togetherness. I like it. When it is done I will post it for you.

Re: Anyone writing their own vows

We wrote our own. I used ultimatewedding and some books I found at B&N. I just copied down pieces that I liked and then worked them into our own vows. We read them to each other that day off of little cheat cards. The guests all commented on how beautiful it was to have us just talking to each other up there in words that really expressed what was special and unique about our relationship. I think it is a great idea if your church allows it.
