Anyones mother not wearing a gown?

My mom does not want anything floor length, but still wants something fancy enough for the wedding. Is anyones mom wearing something other than a gown, and if so, do you have any pics?

I have no idea what my mom is wearing. Right now she is in a depression, and my dad is having a hard time getting her out of the house. Hopefully when I go home for Easter I can go shopping with her. But she has really high anxiety, and doesn't even want to walk down the aisle to be seated, she wants to sneak up the side and sit!! I really don't know what I am going to do!!

My aunt is walking me down the aisle with my uncle. She is wearing an ankle length dress with a flowing jacket. I will try to post a picture.

My mother, FIL and aunt have decided not to wear a gown or dress at all. They are all going the pants route. I am not happy about it but have decided that it is not worth an arguement. Whatever they want to wear is not my concern. As long as they are comfortable. My grandmother can't even convince my mother to wear a gown and she is walking me down the aisle.

I understand how you feel. My mother is not in good health. She is coming home on Friday from cardiac rehab. My father is also in the hospital and has been since October 7. Thinking about my happiness hasn't been easy as dad will probably not live to see my wedding day. The whole family knows this and is making peace with it. They will be together 49 years this May and all she can think about is not making it to 50. I couldn't possibly understand how that must feel.

When I mention needing her there and begging her to do what her doctors say, she gets upset. She also is not to thrilled about standing under my chuppah (I am a Jewish bride) without my father. She doesn't want to stand at all, so I told her we'd put a chair there. She would say 'I don't want to be a spectacle.' So I decided to leave well enough alone. My day is far enough away that causing her anxiety at this point will have a direct effect on her healing process.

So....give your mom a little time. Make things as easy as you can on her. I brought mom some bridal magazines to look at and I could tell she was thrilled looking at them. Just go easy on her. It is hard but it will all work out.

My mom is wearing a fancy suit. Not what she really expected, but it looks good on her.

My mother does not want to wear a dress. I don't really care either way. I want her to be comfortable. She is unhappy with her arms, since she lost about 100 pounds. I am looking at long sleeve dresses for her. But if she doesn't want to wear one, then i will go shopping with her and help her pick out a nice pant suit.

My Mom also was going to wear a suit until she found a dress she liked. Nowadays anything goes.

My mom wore a beautiful skirt set that she found at JCPenney. It was eggplant color with silk/beading. She looked gorgeous. The skirt only went to mid calf.
