Anyone's wedding going to be totally lop-sided when it comes to family represented??
I'm starting to feel bad that hardly any of FH's family is coming to the wedding. We will probably have about 95-100 people of which 20 (tops) will be his family/friends. They just aren't the traveling type (his family is all in Indiana). So pretty much just his immediate family is coming and a couple of friends and one cousin. It is kind of rude I think...they are closed minded to traveling...(If it doesn't happen in their town, they don't go). It is just so hard for me to understand since my family and friends all travel to weddings. Guess it is just a different mentality being from smaller midwest towns versus NY. Anyone else in that situation?

Kind of We have 250 guests - 100 of his family and his parents friends 70 of his friends 77 of my friends and family (mostly friends)
but most of my famil is in Ireland, so i really don't mind. My parents are having a party in July for us in Ireland with all the family
Could you do a party in Indiana?

We are in the same exact situation. FH's total family consists of 5 people. With his friends, it will be about 27. I have about 75 and that's cutting back lol. FH was alittle concerned about the lopsidedness but we'll be a little creative with the table arrangements and all should be fine.

My wedding is going to be totally lopsided. I have about 130 people on my side, with family, close friends and people from work.
My FH is just asking his immediate family. I can't believe that he has no friends coming, and he doesn't want any of his co-workers there. I'm going to see his parents in January, I'm going to ask them.
Since he moved from Mass to FL, he hasn't been in touch with the people up here. I feel very bad.

FH's mom is actually having a party for us in Indiana in March. I think that is totally great, but it still kind of annoys me that they refuse to travel no matter what the occasion. I know I just need to let it go!

My entire family consists of 2 people - my dad and my brother :D Luke has a normal sized family so there was a definite gap there. But thats all the family I have - what can you do?

I feel totally bad about this too!! I will be having about 100 people (including friends and family - I had to cut a few people out because it was getting to be too much). He has a VERY small family, so he will have about 50 people (I don't even think it will be that many). I always feel bad because I'm having so many more people but I have a HUGE family!!

At my wedding we had a total of 10 tables that sat 10-12 people each. Two Tables were my family and the other 3 on my side were all of our close friends. On my DH side all 5 tables were his family.

I guess it is totally normal. I just feel bad for FH..not sure that he cares, but I don't want to keep asking him if people are coming when I know that they probably aren't, but haven't RSVP'd yet. Don't know why I worry about things I can't contol!

Ours is lopsided too. Of our 250 guests about 175 are his side (family and friends).

Ours will be lop-sided also. We have about 190, including freinds and co-workers, my FH has about 75 total. We will have to come up with something to balnce out the room

Ours is the other way. FH & his parents have 95 invites out of our 135 guest list!!! I get mad sometimes (It's mostly his parents friends) b/c I hadn't invited 1 person other than my briday party when we only wanted 120 MAX. So, in order for me to have some of MY friends (I mean, I'M THE BRIDE) (Will and Grace) we had to up the # of invites! My family is small, so what can you do and they won't travel either. I guess you can pick your friends and not your family.

My FH has about 125 family members and I have 3. Yes 3. Long story but I have alot of close friends coming. I don't feel bad, as long as I am marrying the man of my dreams

Our guest list was very lop-sided. My DH has a big immediate family, tons of cousins and aunts and uncles, second cousins.
At the wedding, almost one whole side of the room was his family, the other side was my family, his friends, my friends and our friends.
It worked out fine.

Re: Anyone's wedding going to be totally lop-sided when it comes to family represented??
My Hubby had 2 tables of family & 1 of friends & employees. My family is huge so we put my Moms side together on the 'brides side', then we combined Hubby's guests plus my Dad's tiny family & all of my co-workers(4 tables) & that was the 'grooms side' it worked out great. I felt bad that one of his brothers couldn't come from Florida, but I felt more sad that I never got to meet his Dad & sister. Both passed away. Try to be thankful for all of the friends & family that will be there-when I got my disp camera pics back it made me thankful for that.

I am having the same problem. Most of my fiance's family lives out of the country and probably will not come to the wedding. I think it will be fine though.

Mine is lop-sided too. The only family I have in the US are my mom, dad, maternal grandparents, my half sister (Dad's daughter) and a cousin. The rest of my family is in Uruguay. And Uruguay is not doing so well (what happened in Argentina had a HUGE impact on the Uruguayan economy), so I'm not sure if any of my family will be able to make it to the US for the wedding. On the otherhand, FH has a HUGE family.

Mine will be lopsided. My family is all out-of-state. Almost all coming from the mid-west (Ohio-GO BUCKS!) Travel is not easy for some of my relatives. Some have health problems, some have work obligations, and some have financial restrictions. The mid-west isn't around the corner (Indiana is what?..a good 15-16 hour drive?) I'm sure your FH family isn't doing it because they don't care about your wedding. Did they tell you straight out 'We're not coming because we won't travel beyond our area?'
