FH and I are going to start apartment hunting. Are there any specific questions we should ask that maybe you didn't at first.
TIA

Re: apartment hunting
Are you looking in houses or in a complex?
If it's complex ask if you are allowed to have pets and if the people around you have animals or if they smoke. we had a smoker live underneath us in a complex and every morning our bathroom would smell like cigarette smoke. It was disgusting.
Other things to ask... where you can park, noise regulations, can you paint, what is their lease breaking policy (we got screwed BIG TIME on this one)....

Re: apartment hunting
I have lived in 4 apartments over the years and my strongest advice would be GET THE TOP FLOOR APARTMENT. Don't have anyone living above you because you hear everything!!

Re: apartment hunting
Everyone is saying good ideas but here are a few more to think about:
Where does the super live (if not in building) -- how often he is around apartment area?
The window situation--will you need to buy blinds, curtains? I had to spend a lot of $$ in the past for custom-fitted blinds.
Is there is central a/c?
Are floors being refinished/walls repainted /any renovations happening before you move in? Try to get them included!
Make sure to look at every appliance to make sure they are working and in good condition (fridge, toilet, dishwasher, etc.) because you can negotiate getting new appliances BEFORE signing lease (I got a new dishwasher in apartment by doing this).
Good luck!
