apartment hunting

apartment hunting

has me exhausted - well, not me so much, but FH.....

I feel like everything is so expensive for basically nothing......we are looking to find something will all utilities included (we don't want to be bothered with bills at the end of the month, especially since the prices will fluctuate), and we kind of want to live in the upstairs of someone's home.....we don't want an apartment building since those generally require a lease and we don't know if we will be there the full year since we are also looking for a home.....so we really don't want to be locked in.

found one in Rockville Centre but its a co-op and you have to go through the whole co-op board process.....

never thought this would be so difficult and ANNOYING!

sorry, vent over.

Re: apartment hunting

I know what you mean!!!!

All of the sudden I feel like 'I have to have a house'! FH and I have been renting for a long time, but I need to get my masters degree before we buy something.

It's tough - but you will find something!

yeah its just kind of weird/exciting/frustrating....

first time FH and I will live together.....I am trying to not be picky and not say EW to every apartment we see.......i just feel like some apartments are asking so much $$$$, meanwhile, it looks like they are about to fall apart!

it is a pain in the ***... soon we will start looking for houses and i know it's going to be a pain...good luck! I hope you guys find something you love. dont settle.

when you find the right one, you will know. when i walked into my last apt I KNEW I had to get it.

Utilities included is going to be hard...

Re: apartment hunting

if you arent planning on staying there more than year, dont limit yourself to a place with 'utilities included'

trust me....ya know, the bride married 57 Days 23 Hours 16 Minutes 1 Seconds ....and still not officially living with her DH cuz we are waiting for this coop board approval for a place we found at the end of march

utilities are NOT THAT BAD...and if you want a house, you should get used to paying them separate anyway.

I guess we just figured it may be easier to have everything included to not have to worry about how much this or how much that will cost each month....

keep in mind, electric in RVC is basically nothing.

honestly, dont stress about that. i mean, if you find a great place that is all inclusive, awesome. but if not, who cares.

dont limit your search!! focus your picky-ness when you want to BUY. it is exhausting!!! renting should not be this hard. just find a place big enough for you two on the move-in date you want.

Which building in RVC? I live there!

Utilities are pretty cheap in rvc. I pay less than $20 a month (usually about $10) to national grid and I pay about $50 every other month to the village for electricity.

aww gosh, I just rented out my 1 bedroom condo in Queens I didn't even think of posting the ad here along with what I had on Craigslist.

i agree with not worrying too much about finding a place with utilities included. at least some should be included like cable... but you'll get a feel for how much your utilities will cost after a couple of months and there wont be any surprises.

you're limitaing yourself if those are the only types of apts you're looking for.
