ok well me and my FH were planning to live in his parents basement apartment ... of course we werent going to be living there for free but it would obviously be cheaper than renting for real ... we were planning to save while we lived there (for a year and half to two years) ok but thennnn FH's sister (who owns two houses, one that she lives in and one that she rents out) has a basement apartment in one of the houses (the house she doesnt live in ) i think it would be better to live in the sister's house because we would have ultimate privacy! i dont like to be bothered and i have a feeling living with the in laws would be interesting! the only problem is if i live in the sisters house i wont have a washing machine so i would have to go to laundry mat to wash our clothes. sooo do we live with our in laws and risk having them in our faces all the time orrrr do we live in the sisters house and have to wash our clothes else where? ps - they both in great places actually about 5 mintues away from eachother so the location is amazing!

Tough one. I'm all about convenience and I guess I'd like to have the washer and dryer right in the apartment! Live in the sister's house and do what we do - bring laundry back to your folks' house when you 'visit'.

I would say if the houses are 5 minutes apart, ive in the sisters house but go to the parents house to do laundry so you don't have to pay for a laundry mat. How much is the difference in the rent?

SISTER!!!! do not live with the inlaws!!!! hehehe..take from a person who is leaving next door to her inlaws.....i do everything for them...just bcoz im there..u know...i mean they are not bad ppl and i love them but its very hard to live close to the family...it doesnt matter if they are the best ppl!!!!!!

I'd go with the sister. Going to the laundromat isn't bad at all!! For more privacy I think it is worth it

Ooh that's tough... I would HATE having to do my laundry somewhere... but I think I would prefer that than living with inlaws!

going to the laundromat is a small price to pay and worth it for the privacy.
Doing laundry is not something that is part of your everyday life, you'll do it once a week or whenever you need to. Also many laundromats have a service where you can drop it off and they'll do it for you if you need this. But living with your in-laws will be part of your everyday life.

I AGREE 100% We even tried to move out but none of us has a sister or brother who ownes a house and rents are EXPENSIVE on LI! And I love my in-laws too!
