Whose responsability is it to replace light blubs? The landlord or the renter? We have have an apartment in our house everytime something goes wrong FH fixes it asap now they want light blubs?

Re: Apartment question
To replace lightbulbs inside the apartment, its your responsibility, but inside the building hallway, that's landlord's responsibility.

Re: Apartment question
Irish, I just reread your post and I certainly didn't understand it right the first time.
You have tenants in your house, and your FH (i.e. the landlord) changes light bulbs in 'their apt'. Is this correct, if so, then he should not be changing them, it is part of an appliance that a tenant is supposed to provide. However, it is FH's responsibility to say change the main lightbulb on your porch, since its a shared area and you guys own the place.

Re: Apartment question
Is it wrong not to have working lightbulbs in when you move out? I change them when I need them...but does that fall into wear and tear?

Re: Apartment question
I would say no way. Lightbulbs are the tenants responsibility!! I would never ask a landlord for a lightbulb

Re: Apartment question
It is the tenants responsiblity to change the lightbulbs inside the apartment. The landlord would only be responsible if it's a main hallway or an outside light.
Tell them to spend the $3 and change the lightbulbs themselves or live in the dark!!

Re: Apartment question
Wow, my last landlord always changed the bulbs for us. Guess I got lucky.

Re: Apartment question
Are they asking for light bulbs in the ceiling lights, or lamps? I live in an apartment, and I don't have a ladder, so changing lightbulbs is a little difficult, but I always do it myself. Maybe they're just having a hard time reaching the light?

Re: Apartment question
we change all the 'normal' lightbulbs ourselves like the lamps and bathroom lights. We had flourecents (sp?) in the kitchen and the landlord changed those because I beleive they have to be thrown away a certain way. : )

Re: Apartment question
We replace ALL lightbulbs....How pathetic it would be of us to call the landlord for lightbulbs!!!!!!!! they are responsible for the lights outside of my apt in the hallways and outside...and for the smokes they are responsible for the ones outside the apt..and provide batteries for the ones inside the apt, but you are responsible for putting them in working order

Re: Apartment question
You have to be kidding! They want light bulbs!?!? I've never heard of that. I would never ask my landlord to replace my light bulbs. That is ridiculous!!

Re: Apartment question
I agree that's ridiculous. They USE the light bulbs, they should BUY their own lightbulbs.
