Apartments?

Apartments?

DH & I live in Jericho in a complex....we've outgrown the 1 bedroom and we're fed up with management.....we've looked all over and are not finding anything.

Any recommendations for apartment complexes? We've checked Brixton Lane, Cambridge Village, Yorkshire Village, Norwich Gate, tons of W. Babylon, etc....Norwich is winning but if I am going to pay that much, I would rather move to Suffolk and get a 2 bedroom.

Our lease ends Dec. 31st and I'm freaking out! HELP!

Are you willing to look in Long beach? I know of a couple of buildings that don't have realtor fees. Im not sure how the size and prices compare to what you have now though...

Re: Apartments?

Are you set on only apartment complexes- my friend moved from Glen Arms in Glen Cove to the second floor of a private house- at the complex she had a small one bedroom- in the house- she has a two bedroom with a driveway & backyard for less plus includes utilities- just something to think about

That would be a rough commute for us right now...

Pretty much. We've both had terrible landlords living in private homes. I don't think I'm up for that again!

I've been pretty lucky so far, my first apartment I had an absentee landlord which was nice, but wasn't happy with the guys that lived downstairs, nice people, but very loud, then DH got an apartment after he sold his house and that landlord was HORRIBLE...i hated that apartment but now we are pretty lucky...we are in a private house and they are very nice to us. The guy even washed my car one weekend b/c it's white and it was dirty and he was washing his wife's anyway.
Tough call, I guess both have their pluses and minuses.

True. It's hard.....houses can be hit or miss, so can complexes! UGH!

I don't think I ever judged landlords. I simple said that we've had some tough-to-deal-with landlords and I'm not up for living in a private home again. I know it can go both ways....

i never implied that you did, i was just defending the other side of the fence seeing as there were some negative comments made about landlords throughout this thread - not your post specially.

Kristi, I have to agree with you that being a landlord can't be fun either. I don't know if I could do it. i have a friend who picks on EVERYTHING her tenants do and I just tell her 'they pay their rent, they aren't wrecking anything, too bad for you if they listen to their tv a little loud and past 9pm b/c your kids are sleeping.....Don't rent the apartment if it's a problem.

that's exactly it! our previous tenants had a completely different lifestyle then we do and we butted heads occassionally, but we were all adults and talked things out and came to a compromise with 'loud hours' etc. we all got along fine. but it's really not easy living with people who are strangers and that applies to landlords and tenants.
all i like to tell people who are renting is remember that even though your name isn't on the deed you are still paying to live there so respect the house and respect the people who are making this house available and they will respect you in return.

We're here a bit longer. Economy is just too bad to move right now.

We looked there. The leasing office was full of jerks and the apt was nothing special. I wasn't very impressed.

The Harbour Club is really nice -- we looked there and have friends who live there. They didn't have a two bedroom upper when we went and they were more then what we are paying now.

I think their prices value property to property but check the Avalons
