Or a distraction.

I read a quote today that stuck with me...

'The Way to Be Safe is Never to Be Secure'
- Benjamin Franklin

With the presidential election coming up .. there have been debates in our house .. and last night, when discussing issues .. I said to hubby that I don't feel any more secure now then I did right after the attacks on 9/11 .. so when I saw that quote today .. I felt a little more 'normal.'

Here's the link I saw the quote on...
(warning, this can be a very moving video to many people - especially with audio on)

Honestly, I don't know what to think of that. It kind of makes me sick. I don't think Muslims should have to apologize for something that others who call themselves muslims do. I am not going to apologize for the actions of the KKK. I have nothing to do with them, and they are my enemy and I will accept no responsbility for them. I don't belueve Jesus should apologize for all of the crusades made in his name. He is the vicim as much as he killers are. If the Muslim extremists who are killers are doing it in the name of all Muslims, they are doing it even more so in the name of God, Mohammed and Jesus. Should God and his two greatest prophets apologize for people perverting their message? I really don't think so. I think it's totally absurd. The muslim extremists ARE a fringe group, and most people would hesitate to call them muslims because they obviously don't follow what most of the muslim community considers muslim values. I think it's sick that anyone even expects any group of muslims unaffiliated with any attacks to apologize, If anything, Americans should be apologizing to them for they way they were treated after September 11 in this country.

On the other hand, I would probably apologize to them for it on behalf of other americans...

I found this video beyond disturbing. I think I would go so far as to say I found it offensive. I remember 9/11 without having the images thrown in my face in that manner. I have lost 2 brothers in car accidents and I remember them everyday without looking at pictures of their mangled cars. To me there is a difference between remembering and reliving.

Well, I guess I'm the one apologizing now. I'm sorry you were offended, hopefully it didn't offend the majority of those who clicked it.

Please note, I did post a warning above the link.

I was not blaming you for the video. I am sorry if that is what you thought. I was making a statement about the video not you posting it. I knew that it would have some images, but it was the message and the way they were approaching it that bothered me. I certainly do not blame you. No apology necessary.

no offense at all to you Kel, this is not your fault... but i think it was distasteful to put in pictures of the people in the windows and the person falling. Its one thing to see the towers again, but to see someone about to die is disgusting! DH saw people jumping and I really think he (and other people) could do without seeing it again.

I can understand those who would think that link, or some of the images, are distasteful.

But I will admit .. I looked at all those images, and even went back and looked over a site that contains a timeline of the events as they unfolded on that devastating day .. that site also had loads of various pictures .. and I'm sure some people will think I'm crazy, or morbid, or whatever .. but it was done with a heavy heart that wanted to remember that day .. it was all done in saddness, respect, honor and gratitude for all those who suffered and all those who still suffer .. so many were heroes that day.

In all honesty, I think too many people have forgotten too much about that day .. and just how much everyone seemed to join together in this nation in the moments and days immediately following those events.

Of course, like many others, that day still haunts me .. but my sorrow is still tremendous for all those who were actually involved in a more direct way than I.
