Serve with breadsticks and/or sliced Italian bread

This is good and simple!

Take slices of Italian bread and put a slice or two of tomato and put some cheddar cheese over it. Toast the topped bread. Yummy and simple!

Pigs in a blanket!!

I just jazz it up with the dipping sauces. I put out steak sauce, ketchup, mustard, Peter Lueger(sp) sauce, red onions, sauerkraut, etc...

Re: appetizers

I served these recently and they were a hit:

Ham, Cheese & Basil Pinwheels

6 (10 inch) flour tortillas
1 (8 ounce) package light cream cheese, softened
12 slices ham or proscuitto
4 ounces fresh basil
2 large tomatoes - chopped

Instructions:
Spread each tortilla lightly with cream cheese. Arrange two ham slices across the middle of each tortilla. Add a layer of fresh basil, then a layer of tomatoes. Do not place ingredients too close to tortilla edges.

Starting at one end, tightly roll up each tortilla. Stick toothpicks in four evenly spaced spots of tortilla roll. Place tortilla rolls in a dish, cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours to chill.

Slice each roll into four evenly sized sandwiches, and serve as soon as possible.
