Re: Apple and pumpkin picking
there is wickham's out in cutchogue, the milk pail in waternmill (both in suffolk)
there is also maskers orchards up in warwick (about an hour from the GW bridge)
FH and I went to maskers and they had lots of apples. we used to go to wickham's, but wasn't happy with it last year.

Re: Apple and pumpkin picking
Just this past Sat fh and I went apple picking at Lewins Farms. They are in Wading River (about 5 min away from East Wind) We are from queens so we didnt want to go toooo far away...They were about 1 hour from us. They had a great selection of apples and their trees were dwarf trees so you didnt have to climb which was good too!!!

Re: Apple and pumpkin picking
We've gone pumpkin picking every year to Helen's Farm in Abequoge, and make a tradition out of it... Its so beautiful out there, and that's actually right near where our RH is.. We're getting married in October and plan to take our pics there (Helen's ) after the ceremony and before the reception starts...Its right by the Wineries too and make sure you go to Briermier Farms for a homemade pie...People drive all the way from the city for their pies, and its right up the road from Helen's...have fun!

Re: Apple and pumpkin picking
I live in Brooklyn also, but go to Battleview Orchards in Freehold, NJ. It's a pick your own apple / pumpkin in one place. If you leave relatively early, the trip will take approx. an hour, closer than LI places. Its a great place with delish apple cider donuts and a country store to buy other goodies. They have hay rides too. The place gets very busy on wknds. Call ahead for weather conditions. There are also a few others near this place. Heres their site: Battleview Orchards

I know Queens County Farm in Little Neck has pumpkins but I am not sure about apples. It is a great place to visit and much closer than Riverhead area
