Has anyone been apple picking somewhere in LI? FH and I were thinking about doing this in the morning tomorrow..we want to just walk around and be able to pick them straight off of the trees...does anyone have recommendations for where we can go?? TIA
Ok, this doesn't really answer you question b/c it isn't on long island, but FH and i go to this place upstate, about 2 hours from here and it is AMAZING... it's gorgeous, they have THOUSANDS of apple trees and it is so much fun!!!! the scenery itself is worth the drive.. if you go, bring a camera
we go to Lewins out east. You can just dribe around and find places too.

lewins farms...they have a farmstand and then down the road a bit they have apple orchards!! i love going out there! If you go you have to find the pie place omg their pies are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just ask the people around they will tell you how to get there i always forget lol!

Don't know if you will check this before you leave tom. but you can got to Mattituck. Just drive out to where the vineyards are.... end of the LIE and you'll see a TON of signs for it. Go to Newsday.com and click on the Funbook or I think its called the activitybook now.

the best time to go is like the 2nd or 3rd time in oct...all the apples are so good and there are so many choices

I've been there, when I was a teenager with my friends...We had a blast picking apples (and throwing them at each other) I went to Albany on Monday and drove past, now I really want to go back.

Masker Orchards are the best. We always have so much fun. The only thing is it's getting expensive.

We go to Lewins Farm every year. Apple picking in the fall and we cut down our own Christmas tree in December. Lots of fun
