The priest just asked as some questions... how we met... why do we love each other... what makes us think were ready for marriage... do we go to church.... stuff like that

Then he broke down and told us the FEE I mean DONATION to get married in the church...

they asked us general stuff like are u both members of the parish (i am, he's not which was fine), they needed proof of his baptism though. they asked where we live (we told a white lie cuz i dont want to deal with the church knowing we live together), a big question was if we were gonna have kids or not, and then a really strange one was if either of us had ever gone for counseling together or apart. we also discussed possible dates and if we wanted a mass or just ceremony. and the priest also went over the cost, having to do pre-cana and gave us a little booklet of info and church rules lol if i remember the other questions, ill post more.

i know about the 'suggested donation' part already. i know people who 'paid' $500-$700. i hope that hasn't changed.

i had an informal appointment on the phone...our priest wanted to know:
- where fh and i received our sacraments
- what date and time we were looking to book
- did we just want a ceremony or a ceremony w/ mass

He then told me to take the precana classes closer to the wedding. As of right now our wedding is penciled in the back of the 2009 calendar. He also wanted to have our first meeting closer to the wedding.

Yeah when he said donation I asked if I could just put $200 for the donation and he gave me a look like 'this guy is crazy'

Re: appointment with the church

most of the questions our priest asked are covered above. he asked about how we met, how FH proposed. if we got our sacraments and where (they will need a copy of baptismal certificate). then he asked questions to make sure we are FREE to marry, such as:

1. did we show up at our own will or were we dragged there (lol)?
2. are we physically able to be with eachother?
3. are we mentally able to commit (this is where the long-term counseling question came in)
4. have we been called to religious life?

then asked about having kids and raising them religious.

it was a pretty simple meeting.

GL!!!!!
