Anyone know of a good appraiser. The one by my house does it right in front of you but its $150.
then I called Leders and its 1 percent of the value but they dont do it in front of you and the person is not on site (didnt sit well with me).

I had mine done for $75 but that was 4 years ago. I am pretty sure the going rate is between $100 and $150. Especially if they do it right in front of you.

i think there's another thread about this! someone said something about now doing it in jewelry stores, or going to macy's...
I went to the Jewelry Judge, Barry S Block. He is located in Garden City. He does the whole thing right in front of you, explains the whole process and is generally plesant. His diamond ring appraisals do start at $100 though. If you google Jewelry Judge he come right now and u can email him to get a better idea of the prices. Hope that helps!

I went here too. If I recall, he had told us $90 for the first carat, and $20 for every half carat after that.
He was really nice, and knew his stuff. What I liked is that he doesn't buy or sell, he strictly appraises, so he's not going to screw you on the ring's value.

If you go to a big Macy's, like Herald Square or the one in Roosevelt Field (i think) they have appraisal services and its 10% of the appraised value. I went to the one in Herald Square and i paid about $150 for it. Very worth it

a jeweler near me in Eastport, NY said $75 per ring. i think they do it in front of you.
