Appropriate gift for...

...an after wedding celebration?

A friend of mine got married in the beginning of June and the wedding was in Georgia where he is living. Sunday there is a celebration in the new couple's honor in NJ so all of his friends and family could be there.

Question: Do I treat this like a wedding and give a gift like a wedding? It is at a restaurant in Roselle Park (?? never heard of the town)

Personally, I would treat it like a wedding. If they have a registry, you can get something off of there if there is anything left, if not, I'm sure money would be welcomed!

No offense to my friend, but the wedding was not planned. She's preggo and he did the 'right' thing (if you think that is right)

Are they having a big wedding at a catering hall or something to that effect in the future? My friends got married at city hall before the unexpected, but much loved, baby came and a year later they are having a big wedding celebration with a renewing of their vows. In their case, since I knew the big wedding event was coming, I reserved the gifts for then as did the rest of our friends.

Well, they started dating and he was actually thinking she might be the one and then she got pregnant and then they got married. He seems like he is in love. I have IM'd with her and she sounds like she is in love. The only forseeable problem is that she has 4 kids from 2 previous marriages. I feel like that is a lot for a never been married 28 year old guy.

Wow, 4 kids. Good for him for taking on a whole family! Maybe get them something they can use as a family. I've heard of people with children doing a family registry for when there are kids involved. Just a suggestion.

Yeah, I will give money. I think they could use it.

Yes, I think they'd appreciate money as a gift, or something off a registry if there is one. That is a full house!

I have to say I have never heard him so happy in the 9 years that I have known him. I'm glad!
