Approximate cost of having/putting together a candy bar?

What would you say the approximate cost of having a candy bar is for a wedding of about 170ppl? Or if you had one, how much did is actually cost??

And if you could break it down by
jars and servers,
candy itself (which i know will obviously depend on what candy i get)
and whatever is used to package the candy up

I can't answer this question but I wanted to add a helpful tip. We gave these cute little favor boxes filled with Jelly Bellies and when our guest list expanded it got pricey since I wasn't ordering from a website or anything. Later on I figured out that I could have bought individually wrapped Lindor truffles at BJ's or Costco and it would have been nicer and cheaper so maybe you can see what the wholesale clubs offer also!

hi... I had one at my engagement party. I can't say what the cost was because my FMIL coordinated it, but based on what we had looked at together I don't think it was very pricey at all. We had it for about 110 people. She found great containers at Michael's (different shapes like regular jars, martini glasses, etc)and places like that and bought candy in bulk. She ordered the bags and labels for the bags online. It came out really nice and people loved it!

ummm not sure how much it would cost for that many ppl, but i'll tell u how mine's turning out for my e-party with about 75 guests...we're having it as a favor and the party is this weekend. ok u asked for a breakdown of everything so here we go!

candy jars - 10 total - vases of different sizes/shapes. bought some from michaels and used 50% off coupon, borrowed a couple trifle bowls from family members......total about $20

candy scoops - some were small clear plastic tongs (found at dollar store in a pack of 4), others were clear plastic scoops - (bought scoops from orientaltrading.com in a couple packs of 3 per pack)....total was i think $11 after shipping! (used coupon code to get free shipping)

containers - chinese take out boxes, plain white, pint size....bought at the site with the BEST deal i could find, papermart.com....i got 100 of them for only $22!

labels: made my own really cute polka dot ones on zazzle.com. got 100 for...$23.50 (used coupon code)

CANDY: ok so each container holds about 16 oz (depending on candy size)....so i figured each person would fill it up about 10 oz. (some of my candy takes up more room than other smaller candies)....so 10 oz. x 75 guests = 750 oz..... divided by 16 oz. = about 45 lbs of candy needed WHEW!

ok so i searched every candy site and orderded from whichever site had the best deal on whatever candy. no seroiusly, i put it all into a spread sheet and compared prices of the same candy from like 5 diff sites. oh and i used coupon codes as well!

i ended up buying like 48 lbs of candy...salt water taffy, rock candy crystals, jelly bellies, starbursts, sour patch watermelons, gummy bears....and the total was....almost $190.

which puts me (and my FMIL) at approx. $266.50 (eek! thats the first time i added that all up! lolol)

prob a little more than we wanted to spend but i'm sure my guests are gonna love it! and it looks so cute cause we're having all pink and green candy....whatever, FMIL is paying for at least half of it!

SURE HOPE THIS HELPS!

I am preparing now for my candy buffet. I got some of my jars from Ikea for about $10. I also got some from walmart anywhere from $4.99 -$7.99. Latley I have been going to AC moore and michaels with my 40% and 50% coupons. this past weekend I got 4 large jars for $22 from AC moore.

I've seen the takeout boxes wholesale for about 40 cents. I havent started researching candy yet

So far with the jars, scoops, candy, and bags I'm at a little over $600!
