For all you girls who are looking for apartments....how have you been looking...what sources? And, what's the average rent?
FH and I just went to see our first one yesterday and I must say, I was sort of disappointed. Rent is $1600 and includes gas and water, 700 sq ft, in port washington. Is that normal?? It seemed soo small for that cost.
We're looking in Nassau Co, around a major LIRR station (but not Hicksville). Any help would be great. Thanks!!

DH and I found our apt on craigslist.org. You have to look everyday and I was only looking at apts that had pics (from experience ones without pics were not even worth looking at)

we went to Fairhaven apartments in Carle Place, its about a mile from the Mineola Train station, and the rent for a 1 bedroom is around 1375 (thats what we pay) and it is a nice size apartment, our bedroom is around 10X17

I used to live in PW and that sounds right. PW is on a great line, and is a great town! I found my apartment on craigslist though. It was the top 2 floors of a house and was huge. Like another girl said, it's worth looking on craigslist everyday. I also would look on newsday.com. Great Neck is a great place to live too! Same quick train line and nice area. GOod luCk!

Thanks everyone!! I checked out craigslist (only for the ones with pics) and there are definitely some possibilities on there. We'll probably check out the avalon apts as well, but that too is at the top of our budget and it's not as convenient....but looks really nice from the pictures.

Yes that is correct for what you looked at. My DH and I are about to rent out our 2 bedroom apt that we live in - Right nxt to Northport trian Sta. Prob gna ask about $1750.
I actually don't want to even do it - we love our place soo much , we put so many upgrades into it. (THANK GOD WE OWN THE HOME) We are outgrowing it and now need to move into the bigger area of our home.
