I'm not doing favors, but there will be snowflake votive holders on the table, which each couple can take home with them.

We did a donation to the Make-A-Wish foundation. I made up nice cards to put on all the tables explaining that.

I just wrote about someone I know who did that @ thier weddingon a different thread.

When the Bride and groom announced the name of the child helped and tht his dream to go to Disney was coming true- we all started tering and applauding.

I think thats a great thing to do.

we aren't doing favors either--donations instead

my fmil is making our centerpieces and centerpieces for the cocktail room so there will be something for most people to take home.

We are making a donation in lieu of a traditional favor.

We're donating to the NYPD's Widows & Orphans Fund (fiance is a detective).

We wre making a donation to the American Lung Association in memory of our grandparents...I'm making up cards...any templates you can share?

We are also most likely going to make a donation. My FH is just recovering from 2 surgeries after being diagnosed with testicular cancer. So we are either donating money to the American Cancer Society or buying the Lance Armstrong 'Live Strong' bracelets (the yellow ones), which we wear every day. 100% of the proceed are donated to cancer research and the guests have something to take home.

Despite what my fmil thinks, we are giving a donation. Both of my parents have passed away and I want them to be remembered without going over-the-top. My FI and I thought this would be a great way to remember them, but my fmil is having a hard time dealing with it. SHe thinks the guests will feel jipped!!!! I am sticking to my guns, though!

Here is the wording I found somewhere: (we are going to make cards for each place setting)
To Our Family and Friends,

With much thought and consideration, we have chosen a special way to say “Thank You” for sharing our wedding day with us.
In lieu of a traditional wedding favor, we have made donations to

The American Cancer Society

wow thats a great idea - Maybe I can donate to the FDNY widows fund.. FH is a fireman in Manhattan, involved in 9-11 and there will be a lot of firemen attending...
