We're still struggling through BM dresses. All of my BM are very, very supportive and have made it clear that they will wear any dress I choose for them.
They range in size from 5'3' 100lb to 5'8' 250lb, with three right in the middle. It's obvious that one style won't work for them all. I don't want to have them pick out completely different dresses. Everyone likes the idea of wearing separates and mix-n-matching the pieces that will look best on each body.
I'm hesitant to go to David's Bridal. Had a bad experience there a few years ago and vowed to not return. Bill Levkoff's website has some mix-n-match separates that we plan on looking at this week.
Any other suggestions?? Thanks!!!

Re: Are anyone's BMs wearing mix-n-match separates?
I think the mix n match look is fun and different. It is obvious you are being very considerate of your maids which is awesome. If they are comfortable it will make for a better day too, for you and them, and with seperates they have a chance of wearing at least one piece again. Best of Luck!

That was my intention however, all my bridesmaids picked the same exact seperates except for one which was my maid of honor. That works too. I wanted them all to be happy and they all liked the same one. It complimented all their different frames and sizes.

Another thing you can do is pick a designer (Dessy/After Six has a large selection) and pick one color and material and have the girls pick out a dress style they like. It will look fine in pictures because the dresses will all be the same color and fabric, but each girl will be comfortable in what they're wearing. Just make sure that you're happy with what they picked (you have the final say always!!)
On a side note, I was going to do the mix and match separates, but when I went shopping with some of my bridesmaids, also very different heights and sizes, they all loved the same dress and it flattered all of them. It worked out perfectly!

Mine are wearing deep plum velvet off the shoulder tops with a-line deep plum satin skirts. They are all different body types so I wanted everyone to be comfortable and feel beautiful. This solved all of the dress problems. I got mine from Bridal Suite in Centereach.

Yes I am doing seperates with different tops. Impressiions makes a whole bunch of different kinds and Bridal Suite has a bunch of them. Try not to go there on a weekend though!

Ladies, I really appreciate all of your ideas! Thanks so much.
I'll check Impressions separates, and the Dessy/After Six website.
Michele, who's dresses are your girls wearing? I really like the velvet top/satin-y long skirt look! The stretch velvet is very elegant and very 'forgiving'. I found pretty separates by Alexia, but I'm not too thrilled with the colors that the dresses come in.
Thanks again! Happy planning!!

Mine is the deep plum from Alexis. I wanted a deep purple color and it is actually even prettier than I thought it would be from the swatch. I didn't look at other colors since I wanted purple from the beginning. What color are you looking for? Honestly, the outfit looks great on every body type. I also got the matching wraps made. And since each piece is $98 there is NO Tax!

We didn't do mix and match exactly, but all my girls were in different dresses - some of which were two piece.
I picked the color and designer (claret - Dessy/After-Six) and they all picked out dresses they liked. All 6 of them looked great and it really added dimension to have them in different dresses.
I was in a wedding a few months ago that did mix and match. We all wore the same skirt and picked different tops. There were 3 different tops and 7 girls, so there some duplicates. But it looked great as well.

I got Jim Helm seperates for my bridesmaids -- silver tops & black bottoms. I had them shipped off to them (one's in AL the other had to get shipped to NJ) -- and they said they tried them on & loved them. Obviously they could be lying just to make me feel good - so take it for what it's worth - but they sounded sincere...
