Im going to a wedding for my best friend on the 12th. i dont get paid till the 14th. We got her a gift off her registry and also plan to give a check. But I only have $70 till i get paid and I need $60 for my hair the day of the wedding. Obv. im not going to give her $10. LOL. I was going to give her like $50 or $75. So is it bad if I write the check and give it to her but wont have the money in there till Tuesday? I figure on Sunday its the wedding and then Monday the banks are probably closed... I'd be mortified if the check bounced though...

The only bank that's open Columbus Day is Commerce I think - hopefully she doesn't bank there LOL!

It is a Federal Holiday so all banks and government agencies are closed.

You gotta be careful with that, though. Some people don't even look at the dates! Actually, my BFF did this with our friend's engagement party check, and she even wrote a note in the card explaining why it's post dated, etc., and they still cashed it and it bounced! She was livid!

More and more banks are staying opened on Columbus Day. You should really check with your individual bank. The bank itself may be opened, but it may not be a business day (almost like a Saturday)

Even if she went to the bank on Monday GIna -- it won't clear for a few days and by then you'll be fine. Don't worry!

I have no idea where she banks. maybe I will bring the gift to the reception and then the next day bring her the card and just tell her not to deposit it till the next day. I hate doing that though!
