are cascading bouquets outdated??

this woman i work with told me they are very 80s!!! i always thought they were so pretty but when i was trying on gowns this weekend....i practiced with a few different bouquets and the saleslady said that a cascading bouquet would take away from a detailed dress....what do you think?

I thought so... but in one of the latest issues of some bridal magazine (can't remember which) they said that cascade bouquets are making a comeback..... IMO, it doesn't matter. If you like it, go for it!

My Day - May Way - I am having a cascading bo-k.

I had a cascading bouquet. When my mother told me that's what she was making me, I thought of the 80s immediately. But, after seeing the finished product, it was beautiful, and definitely different.

I think you can do a cascade. The one above is beautiful and doens't look 80's at all. My sister's florist was telling us how she had a 5' git with a cascade that went down to her feet, and it overwhelmed her completely, but that's what she wanted...THAT was overdoing it a tad..hehe

I think you should match the bouquet to the dress.

I agree that the dress has a lot to do with it....without even consideringthe latest trends, I think it has to do with design principles...
The 1st question my florist asked me was to describe my dress & give him a picture. Basically, the logic is that if you have a simple gown with clean lines and not alot of detail work, a cascade boquet or brighter, more vibrant colored flowers is fine, even ideal. BUt if your dress is very detailed, especially on the bodice area (which is where you normally hold your bo-k) you should try and go with a simple bo-k w/ white/ivory/champagne or pastel color flowers. The theory, I think, is that a brightly colored bo-k or a large cascade is the 1st thing a viewer's eyes notice, so it may distract people from the small details of your dress.

Hope this angle helps you make up your mind...but remember these are just guidelines..If you want a cascade then get what you want! And dont let this lady tell you otherwise!

mine is slightly cascading . I have a picture, but it is not the colors. Mine will be ivory Vendela rose, porcelina spray roses & peach spray roses, with stephanotis & ivy.

The florist called it a BHO-I don't know what that stands for, but I think it is the type of holder it goes in.

I think, with those colors, especailly, it gives it an antique look. You could also make a cascading bouquet very wildflower looking.

It could be 80's if it was huge & had all differnt pastel colors & too many different types of flowers & lots of baby's breath!

Do you have a picture of your dress? Here is my dress & bouquet.

JMO- I'm not a big fan of them. But that's me not you.
It's your day- go with what you feel comfortable with.

I'm going with a cascading bo-k as well, it will be on the small/thin side, I think they are beautiful and different. Literally every wedding I have been at, all the brides are carrying the tight bo-k's.

I prefer the cascading bo-k...I figure if i'm gonna go all out with the dress, hair makeup yada yada...then i should have a bo-k that says the same thing.....
the BMs can carry the smaller ones

I think i'll go cascading ... i love royal weddings and everytime i see one, they usually have a cascading bouquet

I dont know what it is about them...i guess the fact that they have more flowers that makes them royal-esque

Thank you. My mom did all the flowers for the wedding. As for the bouquet, I really didn't want cascading, but she felt with my dress, a 'ball of dookie' wouldn't work. She calls all the round, tight bouquets balls of dookie, but I like them nonetheless.

they aren't my favorite style, but I never would have though tof callign them that!
My bms are having clutches, but I tried to express taht I wanted them not so tight & round, so they wouldn't contrast with my looser bouquet.
