Are DJ services taxed in NY???
My DJ is trying to charge me a tax on the DJ services. Is this normal? Do bands charge tax?

No, there should be no tax on a DJ or band.
Edited to add: I just checked my DJ contract and there is no tax.

There should not be a tax charge on a DJ.

i was under the impression as well that entertainment services can not charge tax

if the DJ doesn't have a proper certificate of authority then he has to charge tax

NO! There is no tax on entertainment. IMO I would go to a different DJ, if they tried to pull a fast one over on you! DO NOT PAY TAX!
