Are E-Parties...?

Are E-Parties...?

Believe it or not I've been to many weddings but never an engagement party so my question is...are engagement parties supposed to be in the same theme/color scheme as your actual wedding? Or can they be different?

Generally, it is up to you. I think the only general rule is that you should only invite people you know that you will invite to the wedding.

I agree. There are no rules. Oftentimes brides have no idea what their theme is going to be that far in advance anyway. My mom had lavender for my brother and FSIL's engagement party. For their wedding, they are doing a black and white theme with a touch of tiffany blue. For my eparty, my mom had a pinkish-purple theme, which is what I would like to stick to...but when it comes down to it...is anyone REALLY going to remember what color scheme you had at your eparty the day of your wedding?

If you're unsure of color schemes, just stick to black and white for the eparty. :)

I'm doing different - but that's just because I'm a planning maniac! Our e-party is purple/silver/white (for ME) and our wedding is shades of blue (for HIM)

For our engagement party, we reserved a private room at a resturant and treated 26 of our friends to a nice dinner. No color theme. It was one month after we got engaged and we hadn't planned a thing. I was told by my married friends to enjoy engagement (pre wedding planning) as long as possible because once planning begins, it takes over!!

There are no rules for weddings anymore LOL
You can do whatever you want. Just as others have said make sure you invite people you plan on inviting to the wedding.

My engagement party was a whole fall theme and my wedding is a Christmas/Winter Wonderland theme. I guess I am kind of sticking to the time of year they both are/were in.

Re: Are E-Parties...?

I looove the colors of our wedding...so I did use our wedding colors as the theme... but only a bit. Like, I got table clothes...blue and purple.. and the centerpieces were a mix of ALL colors. I got alot of compliments on it! And it only took me about 20 mins to set up! I was speeeedy speeeedy! LOL. My wedding colors will be more in the pastel form...
My STD magnet also matches our wedding...HAHA...sorry...my bedroom are those colors for crying out loud! HA... So... I am using the colors AS much AS I can! HAHA
