I agree.
I just put groomsman down as ushers, but I doubt anyone will have issues finding their seats.

groomsmen can usher your guests to their seats if you don't want ushers.
we are having 4 ushers because they are people close to us, but we didn't want to have a bigger BP.

Re: Are groomsman usually the ushers?
We called everyone groomsman, and one jr. groomsman, yes they are the same as ushers, and ushers are needed just a little, we didnt push that we wanted both sides even, but the guys just didnt even know that there is a brides side and a grooms side, so almost everyone was on my side then some moved over even though they were mixed his and mine. So in the end it almost made the sides similar, but a bit off.....So be specific if you want it even......and where the brides side and grooms side is, guys are rather clueless about it....

Re: Are groomsman usually the ushers?
Im having an usher was supposed to have 2 but one backed out so I will ask one of my groomsmen to step in and help out. I think it adds a nice touch to have women escorted to their seats and you would need someone to escort your mom to her seat also.

Re: Are groomsman usually the ushers?
Yes girls groomsman are the ushers. When I first got married they were only called ushers. They are to ask people as they enter the church if they are a friend/family of the bride or groom then escort them to a seat on that side (bride's or groom's) of the church/synagogue/chapel. Then when everyone is seated and the bride has arrived they should go to the back of the church to escort the bridesmaids down the aisle. We all know the groom and BM will already be at the altar.
