I have started my DJ hunt and after speaking with one he seemed to think that lights are a necessity for a night wedding. What do you ladies think?
That said, I was not looking for a club-like atmosphere. I am not even sure if the MC is necessary. I just want intro's and such.
Thoughts???

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh I personally don't think either are 'necessary.' It sounds to me like he's trying to up-sell you on stuff.
It sounds like you don't want either, so don't let a vendor persuade you otherwise!

not really..but it is nice to have it..it will twinkle in your pics
but if you want a dark intamite wedding..id go without it
i just get the basic lighting that came with mine
and im only spending $700 on DJ

lights arent a necessity, did u ask for a price without the lighting? Its all a matter of what you like, im sure a dj will accomodate u..

i would say it depends on how light/dark the room is and how much other lighting you'll have in the room (candles, chandeliers etc)....but again...nothing is really necessary unless u think u need it or want it.
from our experience...not sure if this holds true for every dj/lighting company...they can set the lights to one color and have them go as fast/slow as you want or have them not move etc...so it more or less depends on what u think.

I don't really think you need it, or an MC. My DJ will do the intros for us. I'm not having lights.

lights are depending on the look and feel. If your in a HUGE hall then maybe go for at least a basic light show but if your in a normal hall then you really don't need any or much. Unless of course your into the whole 'club' feel.
As far as DJ/MC we only wanted a one man show or dj said for an extra $100 we get another person and it helps him out since I was getting for free cocktail and ceremony music and he needed the extra person to do it. So basically he sold me for another person which paid for the cocktail/ceremony music in the end. Do you need it no!

you definitely don't 'need' it. We decided to get them - but I was specific about which ones - just the basics he offers, not the fancy or spinning lights. I like the way it brightens up the dance floor - they are usually so dark at night weddings.
