are menus necessary??

I kind of just wonder if they are REALLY necessary. . is it bad to just have the waiter give people their two choices?? salad and app don't have choices.. I do think that sometimes people like to know what they are eating but really wonder if it's worth it. .

a lot of times the hall provides them. Some brides just prefer to make there own.

I don't think it's necessary. My hall doesn't provide them, and I was going to make my own... I discussed it with some friends and family who had already been married and they told me that they didn't have menus and it's normal not to. Lots of the girls on this site love doing DIY projects, but it's really not the majority of people. I would LOVE to have DIY menus, but I am creatively challenged.

your hall might provide it

my RH had 9 entree choices so that i thought was a bit much for the waiters to have to tell everyone so i did menu's. My RH provides them but i did my own just to match the theme but you can also get what the rh provides

plus i wanted ppl to know there would be a viennese hour so they didnt leave before that. Putting it on the menu's let everyone know

Honestly, to make them yourself is unecessary. I'm fairly sure that most, if not all, catering halls provide them for you.

My hall does not provide them, I asked. .

Most halls provide menu's.. does yours? If so, i would say if you really don't need the added expense, its not necessary. I did not make them.. my hall provided them...and they were fine.

I think most weddings I've been to didnt have that - you could do a stand up one for each table if that makes it easier for you...

Nice presentation, not necessary and most halls provide this. Most wedding I've attended didn't have them. HTH

I'm glad someone started this thread, I've been debating over this and programs.

Oh, I kind of like the idea of doing one. that might work.

My hall does provide the menus & place cards. So, I would check to see if possibly they are offered with your hall.

I am not sure if I will be using them or ordering/making my own to match my colors and/or theme. For myself, I like them more for that presentation and having everything match nice. But, I plan to have them along with programs too.

They aren't necessary at all. But they do add a nice personal touch...another thing to carry on your theme with. My RH provided two per table so I didn't bother myself with yet another DIY project, but afterwards I wished I had. They're so easy to make too.

i think it is only necesary when you have a long list of food choices, but if you dont then it is once less headache!

You don't really need them... I'm going to have them just so people don't feel rushed when the waiter comes around to give them their choices...

I don't think you NEED them but when I'm at a wedding as a guest, I know I like them. Not even so much to help with the main course selection (considering you have two, people won't need it for this), but I like to see what the 'layout' of the wedding will be. Will there be 2 courses? 3? 4? 5? Sometimes it helps me budget my appetite, as well as know when the dancing will be ! I'll never forget a wedding where I just picked at the salad and appetizer because I assumed there would be a pasta course, and then there wasn't one!

Plus, if I'm at a table where i don't know too many people, it makes for good conversation starters!

You could print out just like 1-2 per table or your CH might do it for you.
